Big-time celebrations

India is a fast-growing economy and many people have a lot of money to spend and enjoy life. Although Indians have never been known to hesitate in splurging money on occasions like weddings, the increasing affluence of the middle classes and the new rich class have encouraged them to splurge money on many more occasions like the birthday of the child, completion of sixty or eighty years of life, 25 years of marriage, business launch or promotion, house warming, or simply a get together.

Most of such occasions are celebrated in banquet halls because most families do not have the space, the manpower and the energy to organize them. If some family does try to manage such a function, all its members end up being busy in the work and not being able to enjoy the show. Also, most families go for the banquet halls because they can afford the services.

Spend money, get everything done

The number of banquet halls in Central Delhi is huge. They cater to the needs of all sections, but mostly for the upwardly mobile people. They manage every small detail of the function once the deal is finalized. The halls can accommodate from 50 to 1500 persons. They usually are air-conditioned and pride themselves on the ambience in the hall. The furniture, the lighting, the sound system, everything is taken care of. The decoration, mostly with flowers, is stunning, but they can also create a special ambience, if demanded by the client, by using a particular theme. Whatever be the occasion, all arrangements are made for the conduct of the main ceremony.

Food is the way to heart

The guests do not have to worry about parking because of the valet parking facility. They are received by the banquet hall personnel, conducted to seats, offered juice glasses and made comfortable. Beer and liquors flow liberally. The meal proper is nothing but fabulous. It is a multi-cuisine menu. Most halls pile on foods of umpteen cuisines. Starters, salads, chaats, papads, samosas, south Indian dishes, Punjabi vegetables, rotis, puris, western food dishes, biryanis, half a dozen sweets, non-vegetarian dishes, ice creams and many more dishes are on offer. No one can taste even a fraction of the dishes made available. Many halls offer entertainment programs featuring singers and dancers of some reputation. As the guests mingle with friends and keep chatting, the entertainers keep presenting their fare.

A pricy affair

The price in Central Delhi banquet halls can be anything from Rs500 per plate to Rs4500 per plate. Budget banquet halls too are available, but they won’t have the same splendor as the high-profile banquet halls. They won’t have the abundance of food on offer in the more renowned halls.

Some of the banquet halls among the hundreds in Central Delhi are Oberoi, Hotel Sun Village, Imperial, Hotel City Star, Lalit, Park, Sohana Palace, Emerald Hotel, Corus Hotel, Hotel Today International, Shangri La’s, Hotel Maharaja Continental, The Hans, Le Meridian, Hotel Star Plaza, Shipra International, Vivek Hotel, Hotel Palm Dor, Royal Plaza, Hotel Chanchal Deluxe, Hotel Delhi Heart, Hotel Balaji Deluxe and Hotel Elegance. These are only some of the banquet halls in the region and there are many more.
